1. Responsibility for Duties & Taxes
For international orders, the consignee (package recipient) is liable for any customs duties, import taxes, or fees due at delivery. These charges are not included in your order total and must be paid directly to your country’s customs authority upon receipt. Customs requirements vary by jurisdiction, and we cannot predict specific fees imposed.
2. Calculation of Import Duties
Customs duty amounts depend on multiple factors:
- Tariff Policies: Each country sets its own rates for imported goods (e.g., water cups).
- Declared Value: The value stated on the package (see Section 3 for our declaration practices).
- Local Tax Laws: VAT, sales tax, or regional fees may apply.
To minimize potential duties, we:
- Use USPS First Class for international shipping (often subject to lower customs scrutiny).
- Declare packages as “gifts” when eligible (subject to customs approval), with values between $20–$150 USD based on product size/weight.
Important Note: Customs authorities ultimately determine duties. Check your country’s official customs website for guidance.
3. Reducing Import Taxes
To request a specific declared value on your shipping invoice:
- Contact us at [email protected] before placing your order.
- We’ll adjust the declared value per your instructions (lower values may reduce fees, though not guaranteed).
Default Practice: Without instructions, we declare packages at $20–$150 USD to balance accuracy and potential duty reduction. This value is based on product type and dimensions but does not guarantee fee exemption.
4. Handling Customs Clearance Issues
If your package is held by customs:
- We’ll cover reasonable clearance fees associated with processing the shipment.
- Provide a detailed shipping invoice to present to customs for faster resolution.
- Liaise with USPS to clarify package contents (e.g., confirm items are water cups, not restricted goods).
Note: While we assist in coordination, direct communication with your local customs office may be required for final resolution.
